Barefoot! well virtually at least!

I was planning to go barefoot today, I was so excited but then several things happened, 1) the weather went from high 70s to mid 30s (will I ever get use to the craziness of Chicago weather?) 2) I woke up with a victorious throat this morning, I could barely sleep, 3) it is raining with a chance of snow (its APRIL!) so I am going to use wisdom and just stay home, drink lots of tea and hope next year I can actually go barefoot.

So instead of actually going barefoot I am just going virtually barefoot, hey its something! I plan to buy 2 pair of shoes for me and 1 for my boyfriend so I'll also contribute in that way.

Here's why shoes are important ( I bet you never thought about it):
Fact #1: In some developing nations, many children must walk for miles to school, clean water, and to seek medical help.
Fact #2: Cuts and sores on feet can lead to infection
Fact #3: Often, children cannot attend school barefoot
Fact #4: In Ethiopia, approximately one million people are suffering from Podoconiosis, a debilitating and disfiguring disease caused by walking barefoot in volcanic soil
Fact #5: Podoconiosis is 100% preventable with basic foot hygiene and wearing shoes

REMEMBER: next time you put your shoes on, remember there are many that don't have any and wish they could have some!!!
